I am a junior and am trying to piece together my lists of schools Id like to apply to and learn more about over the next 6 months or so. Currently, I know my reach schools and a few schools that I seem to be on par with. I was wondering if based on my selections, someone could give me some comperable schools to look at based upon my “on par” selections as well as some schools that are sort of a step down which could be safety schools. My list thus far looks like:
Reach:
Lehigh
Bucknell
Colgate
On-par:
Loyola MD
Ursinus
What are some other options for me to look at? Thanks!
Need Stats to determine Safety schools along with what your family can afford. Safety schools have to affordable, high chance for an acceptance and a school you are willing to attend.
I would put Muhlenberg and St. Lawrence on the list based on your par. These would be good additions as they are in the middle. If you apply to Bucknell go ED. Gettysburg and Dickinson would be good too. If you add these you will have a better mix of risks.
As for high quality safeties again based on your par, Siena College and Scranton come to mind.
I would recommend your state non-flagship universities as safety schools. So if you live in Michigan, for example, MSU and U of M would not be your safeties, but rather Grand Valley State University, Central Michigan, etc.
As far as small LACs are concerned, you may want to consider Albion, Allegheny, Goucher, Antioch, Beloit, New College of Florida, University of Puget Sound, and Willamette as potential safeties/matches.
Another suggestion is Hobart & William Smith. Solid LAC with potential for merit aid in the Northeastern US. Not particularly competitive, and like Bucknell, Colgate, and Urisnus, quite rural.
If you’re interested in small schools with excellent academics and a more urban environment (I see Loyola Maryland on your list), Rhodes may be a great option.
