Old SAT: Reading-620 Math-650

So you have a 1270 on the OLD SAT…which is a lot higher than a 1250 on the new SAT.
Your old SAT is about an ACT 28/29…your new SAT is maybe an ACT 26/27

I think Providence might be more fun…somewhere between quiet and rah rah
@mom2collegekids Where did you find the conversions between the different SAT’s and the ACT? I took the new SAT again in June and may take the ACT. How do you figure out what score is the highest?
@4Gulls I have taken the SAT again which I haven’t recieved my scores and may take the ACT in September. Skidmore is currently my top choice. How much do my scores need to go up to make a difference?
@merc81 I know that not all of my schools over both programs! I am not sure whether I am leaning towards math/science or business. If I figure that out before making a decision, I would probably go to a school that specializes in that area. Currently Skidmore is my favorite and it offers programs in both liberal arts and business.
Skidmore is 60% female 40% male so guys definitely have the edge. You should aim to get your SAT over 1300. If you can afford it and its truly your first choice go ED. 45% of class was filled ED last year I believe. Have you visited yet? It’s beautiful. Good luck.
Although men are underrepresented at Skidmore, the acceptance rate for women is slightly higher. Male are applicants do not “definitely have the edge.”
Of interest, Skidmore recently announced they will be going “Test Optional” - so depending on how well you do if you take SAT / ACT again you may or may not want to send your scores to Skidmore. Also noted in the article that last year they had a record number of applications.

@4Gulls I just recieved my new SAT scores and got a 1300/1600 on it. Do you think I should send it or not?
@mom2collegekids I took the new SAT again and got a 1300, would the old SAT score still be considered higher

According to the College Board concordance tables, this equates to an 1820 old SAT. I believe the average SAT at Skidmore is an 1867 which equates to 1320. So you’re pretty much the middle of the pack. Whether or not you send to Skidmore depends in part on how strong the rest of your application is. Good luck.
