May I suggest Sewanee as a safety. I would not want to go there necessarily, but it is highly conservative. It is the University of the South. I hear it is fairly preppy, there is a sort of Southern Aristocracy, but if that doesn't bother you too much, Sewanee would be a great safety in my opinion.

Generally any state flagship in the South will be at least somewhat preppy and somewhat conservative. I'd say 'Bama, Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, and maybe Clemson could all be safeties. Georgia would be maybe a high safety or low match.

You could get into West Virginia U, but it's probably the most liberal, granola-crunchy place in the whole state (or that's the impression that I get).

These schools are safeties for you and known to be especially preppy and conservative:

Ole Miss (very good chance at honors college and good scholarships)
TCU
SMU (maybe more of a match than a safety?)
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
LSU
Baylor

You may want to take a look at Birmingham Southern and Centenary College of Louisiana. While both are liberal arts colleges, they seem to fit what you are looking for in a safety. Good luck.

Big state schools are good Southern safeties, especially if your numbers hold up, you should get into the Honors College of some of these schools (Bama, for ex). Ideas for smaller schools - Samford, Mercer, Rhodes, Millsaps, Trinity Univ, Furman, Wofford, Elon, Loyola NO, Univ NC Asheville - some of these are safeties some are matches.

If you get anywhere around where you're projecting, I think you have a great shot a Tulane. BTW, what are your match and reach schools (so far) ?

Reach - Vanderbilt, Emory
Match - Tulane, Miami, Washington and Lee? Syracuse, Boston (U), Bucknell, Colgate
Safeties - U of South, Georgia, SMU

What state are you in, if you feel comfortable answering? the problem with Tulane is that I think you may be out of merit money range GPA and rank wise, and it is fairly pricey, not sure if that is a consideration. The reason I'm worried you are out of that range is Tulane is trying hard to attract a more nationwide student body, and uses merit money to get very high stat kids from NE and West coasts. Seeing as you have Bucknell, Colgate and W&L on your list, how about Wake Forest, Furman and UNiv of Richmond (other pricey choices) - there atmosphere will be more similar to Bucknell and Colgate, and they are a little larger than W&L.
