Safety schools!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I am looking for safety schools in the Northeast. I am a competitive applicant with a strong GPA and good EC's. My test scores are currently not as strong as I want them to be, however, they are up to bar with the ivies lowest test score averages. I am planning to take them again, but if I can't improve significantly, I want to have a few safety schools that I am happy with. Thanks.

To name safeties we need more info. State of residence, UW and W GPA, class rank, scores, what type of college you want (small/large, rural/urban). Do you need FA?

Tell us where you are applying as match and reach schools and we can tell you the comparable safety schools. Unless of course your match and reach are all ove the map, in which case you will need to describe exactly what you are looking for in terms of size, location, major, culture, etc…

What majors, dear?

I have a 3.8 unweighted, I have only taken honors and AP classes in high school. I am interested in science.Do not need FA, and I don’t care where exactly the school is located, I just want to be in the NE. Match schools are currently BU and U Rochester and Tufts. Reach schools are the ivies. Hope this helps…

Your instate public schools are probably a good place to look.

With BU, URochester and Tufts as matches … you might look at Bucknell, Union, Ursinus and Villanova as safties. But as teenage_cliche pointed out, you in-state flagship public is probably all you really need.

NYU-Poly sounds like the perfect safety school in every regard then. Disclaimer, yes, I go there, but I’m entirely serious too. It gives amazing, near-full-tuition financial aid if you have good grades and apply for the Honors college, so in the financial aspect, it’s a good backup.

It also was never entirely competitive, and even now that it’s affiliated with NYU and has double the competition, it’s not THAT hard to get accepted into. I wish you the best of luck.

VT perhaps? is that too south for you?

Look at SUNYs (Stony Brook and Buffalo might work for you).
