Safety???

I just checked the status of my SDSU application and here's what I found:

Thank you for applying to San Diego State University. After carefully reviewing your application, we are unable to offer you admission for the fall 2005 semester. Admission decisions are very difficult given the very strong applicant pool. Each year, SDSU receives many more applications than can be accommodated based on the number of admission spaces available for the fall semester.

We received over 49,000 applications for approximately 4,150 freshman and 4,250 transfer openings in our fall 2005 class. The average grade point average for admitted transfer students was 3.16. All decisions were based on the information you reported on your CSU application and the SDSU Supplemental Application and were made with great care. Reasons for not meeting SDSU criteria may include:

Not having the minimum grade point average required for your major
Not completing the Transfer Supplemental Application
Not having specific courses required for your major
Not having the minimum grade point average if you are located outside of SDSU's service area
Not submitting a separate application to the nursing program (if your major is nursing)
Not completing or successfully passing a mandatory audition (if your major is music or dance)

It looks to me that they really emphasize on GPAs and Required courses, I'm surprised because I don't fall under any of the statements listed above.
Trasfer student - Santa Ana College
GPA- 3.82
64 Units (60 is the min.)
Will have IGETCI and all the CSU requirements done by this semester
Supplemental Application-completed
All required Courses for my major-completed
-Major- Geography, not many courses required, but I completed all with As

I must admit that I'm really disappointed because I also applied to Cal, UCLA, UCSB and CSULB. Somehow I thought of CSULB as my safety (along with SDSU). I was feeling good about my chances on Cal and UCLA since my major is not that competitive, but I guess I was wrong.
Oh well.....all I can do now is wait

hmmm thats weird, be sure to post back on your acceptances to those other schools, im interested.

they probably figured that with that GPA, you would be get into way better schools so they wanted to offer a space to someone who may not be able to do better than SDSU. I think you have an awesome shot at UCLA and Cal and you are definitely in at Long Beach and UCSB. You will have great options...and if for some weird reason you didn't get into any of those schools (even though this won't happen), SDSU would definitely take you on an appeal. Good luck and let me know what happens!!

any updates? I'm sure that you are getting nothing but acceptance letters, but please lets us know!!

I got into UCSB, so now I'm waiting for Cal and UCLA (hopefully I'll know by next week)

congrats!! I knew you could do it!! Honestly though, I think you get into at least one of the two schools you have left (UCLA and CAL). YAY!!

thanx, just a couple of days left

Let me know what happens...I'm sure it will be only good news but still!!

A bunch of transfers on this site already know about UCLA decisions...any word yet? FINGERS CROSSED!! GOOD LUCK W/ CAL TOO!!

I got accepted to UCLA, and Cal is "still in review", but i'll hopefully know by the end of today. Assuming that I get accepted to cal also, its gonna be really difficult to choose one over the other... Based on your nick: UCLAclassof2009 I guess you'll be starting at LA as a freshmen right? whats ur major? and are you going to live on or off-campus?

Yay I'm so happy for you...I knew you were too good for SDSU!!

Yes, I'm going to be a freshman in the fall...I am going to live on campus and my major is business economics. I was also accepted to Berkeley, but I still chose UCLA. I know alot about both schools so if you have any other questions I'm here.

well, Cal just made a decision for me, rejected,,, but im not depressed, like I said, going to any of those two would be awsome, plus LA is a lot closer to home, so its not bad at all

Forget about Berkeley. Getting into UCLA is a huge accomplishment and you should feel proud of yourself for getting into such a competitive school. You earned it.

so are you going to LA for sure? Please keep me updated!!

yeah, i sent my SIR on friday

If anyone wanted to know, SDSU has an average GPA of 3.8 Entrance because a TON of people like the SD area... I got into Berkeley and got rejected from San Diego State.... weird
