Safety?

I have a quick question: Is the area around Northeastern safe? I plan to live near the school so I am wondering..

Thanks!

From what I've seen and heard, the campus is quite safe but remember that Boston is a city and the University is part of the greater community and like all communites, big or small, there's a certain amount of crime. From the statitics filed by the school, it doesn't appear that crime should be a major concern of yours. To me, the advantages of living in a big cities greatly outweigh the risks of being the target of a crime. For instance, try finding a good delicatessan in Storrs Connecticut!

Use common sense, beware of your surroundings, etc., etc.

Public Safety

It's pretty safe, I think, though it depends on where off-campus you'll be living. The Fenway/Back Bay side is probably safer (and more expensive) than the Roxbury/Mission Hill side. That said, a lot of students live in Mission Hill and I never hear about anything happening. It's my impression that the area's gotten a lot safer in the past decade or so.
