Safety?

any robbery? raping?

guns???

....

bombs?????

i'm so scared..........

Uh no there is nothing that at Tulane. It is very safe. There are campus police that give escorts to your dorm if its too late. Just be smart and don't wonder into the downtown New Orleans at 3 am.

I wouldn't fear guns. They don't do much on their own.

Just like anywhere else, stay out of the bad parts of town.

It really isn't difficult to be safe in New Orleans...

New Orleans is an odd city- one block can be beautiful and amazing, and 2 blocks over on the same street can be an area you wouldn't want to go in during the day, let alone at night.
If you spend two seconds analyzing where you are, it's not difficult to avoid the sketchy areas.
For example, you pretty much want to avoid annunciation st. uptown. I personally would never drive down it myself. (It's not that close to Tulane's campus though).
If you have any common sense, you can avoid nearly all crime problems in New Orleans.

The area around Tulane is quite lovely. The neighborhood surrounding the north end of the campus was flooded during Katrina, but most of those homes have been rehabilitated. Audubon Park is a great place for walking and exploring. Some of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the city border the campus. But, as the others said, use some common sense. Don't go wandering around by yourself at two in the morning. Be aware of your surroundings.
