<p>Stanford's campus is much safer than any I've been on previously. The combination of the campus size and the surrounding community help that a lot. The thing is, it's important to remember than feeling safe doesn't mean you should be stupid and leave your bike unlocked, or leaving a laptop in your car on the front seat. </p>
<p>That said, my son has been the "victim" of on-campus crime. He left his Xooter in a classroom. When he remembered and went back for it three days later, it was gone. It's never been found, so it's considered stolen. It was silly of him to leave it, and that's what happened. But honestly, compared to UGA, and tons of other campuses I've been on, it's very safe -- so much so that it's nearly a non-issue for most students.</p>
