saftey?

So, i am a sophmore in high school right now and i really could use some advice on whether or not UIUC is considered a saftey for me. I really want to go to NU, but if the financial aid and the money wont work for me, then I guess UIUC would be the best alternative (as a state school). So far I have scored a 34 on a real ACT (meaning i can submit it [32 english, 34 reading, 35 math, and 36 science]) and have gotten an 800 on my SAT II Physics. By the time I apply i will have 200+ hours of volunteer service at one location, and may start volunteer somewhere else at the same time. I have a 3.9 gpa unweighted and a 4.4 weighted. By the end of junior year i will have taken 5 a.p. courses and have no regular courses planned to take next year (meaning all courses are weighted). I am captain of the debate team, key club member, math team, and JSA. I do not have any national awards that i can think of.

Your advice is greatly appreciated!!

It’s too early. You might do poorly next year. But you seem to be on track.

Well it also depends on what major you want to go into. Those stats should get you easily into any department. A year of bad grades might hurt, but they will probably see that 34 and still consider admitting you.

The thing is, if you want to do engineering, that would make you a little above average as far as HS grades go. Engineering at UIUC is not really a fall back for anyone, even if it is not their first choice. I assume you want either that or physics based on the fact that you took SATII Physics.

I want to go into medicine, but yes, biophysics is definetly a possibility. I do NOT want to be an engineer, if that makes a difference.

any other opinionS?
