I was accepted to SAIC in october, and got my merit letter in december for 55k over 4 years, which leaves something like 157k to still pay for. I've applied for FAFSA, and I'm anxiously awaiting the results (this is going to be a long few months). I was wondering, do private schools like SAIC generally give out more Federal Aid money than other schools? what about SAIC in particular? I have heard of this, but I wasn't sure if it was true.

As far as I know, there is no school out there that will give more federal money than is permitted based on your EFC.

There are specific limits to each program based on your EFC and those remain the same across the board, whether you choose a school that is $5,000/year or $50,000 year.

What I think CAN change is their ability to give you the maximum eligible for. Schools only have a set amount of federal money to dole out and once its gone, its gone. That’s why it is so very important to meet the priority deadlines schools set for getting your aid paperwork submitted.

I got accepted to SAIC too and I’m getting $5,500 in Financial Aid / year.
