SAIC vs. Parsons Help please!

Hi, I've a friend who has been admitted to both Parsons and SAIC, and he's looking to major in visual communication. I was wondering whether there are any SAIC or Parsons alumni/students out here who can briefly list some pros and cons of the major in both schools? Also, how's the student culture, nightlife in both schools?

I've done some pretty basic research, and came up with the following list.

Parsons:
- Very expensive dorming + food (it's NY after all...)
- Great fashion facilities
- Strict class policies (if you miss three classes, you are basically kicked out of the class? Clarify please)
- Great connections and networking
- A lot of homework.
- There are some snobby and elitist kids, but I guess there's a bunch of these people in every school...

SAIC:
- Expensive as well. I would say that it's probably on par with Parsons, or slightly cheaper.
- Great food?
- Great student benefits: free transportation pass, access to museums etc.
- Dorms are pretty big too, not that expensive
- Poor nightlife? I've heard that all the shops close at 8:00p.m, so not much of a nightlife there.
- Hard to transfer to other schools.

Please give some advice! Thanks!

feedback please!

I don’t know the details, but SAIC also has a strict attendance policy and has a lot of homework. Of course, that last part is probably true for every art school.

SAIC is located in the business district, so some things do shut down earlier than in other parts of the city. However, many of the trains run late at night with some lines running 24 hours, so it is easy to get to other areas of the city with more nightlife.
