Saic

My D is interested in studio art, art history and writing. Does anyone have any specific information on the writing program beyond what you can find out from the web site? I'd love to know if anyone has either taken writing classes at SAIC or knows someone who has. Also, since I am new to even the idea of art school, how SAIC stacks up against the others, how hard it is to get into, etc. Also, if it is easier to get in through, say, writing, than studio art. Thanks.

I can't say anything about the writing classes, but I am planning to transfer to SAIC Fall 09. I've already been accepted, just need to send in my scholarship app and see how it pans out.

Anyone able to answer my first question? Even if you don't have information on the drama program, anything at all about the school would be appreciated!

My DD took art and writing there at the SAIC summer program for HS students. She was challenged in both areas. She did figure drawing and they really get a lot out of the student. They work them hard. She did animation and i was picking her up late at night after she spent 10 to 11 hours on an animation bench. She applied and was accepted and received a fair package for financial aid. loan section was too high for comfort. SAIC has solid studio and teaches conceptual. DD is a good writer, so she ended up going to a state University with art and writing strenghts. She can always return to SAIC for grad work if she wants. School does not grade just written reviews.

Oops, I wrote drama program, but meant WRITING program. Thanks, TheresaCPA. Anyone else?
