Saint John's University in New York

Hi, I just want to know about this school's overall reputation. Is it a great school? Does it have name recognition? If anyone can provide me with further information, I would definately apperciate it. Thanks

go to fordham of cuny. please.

Why do you believe I should go to Fordham or Cuny?

It is ranked third tier by us news, but it is respected by those in New york, specially those in queens, etc...
WHich degree do you intend to pursue?
Also, do you intend to stay there for all 4 years?

overall it is a good school, the campus is not that great, but the academics are average.

I cannot think of any program that stands out though

Are you considering any other schools? and what are your status?

^^^I would like to know that as well

Well I am also considering Hofstra University and Queens College. I want to go to law school. I am thinking about majoring in either Political Science or Sociology. However, I am not quite sure. Yes I do intend to stay at St. John's all four years if I decide to go.

You should definitely choose ST. John's over the other 2 universities. No question about that.
Now, If you posted your status, we could let you know if St. johns is the best U. for you and your major.

GOod luck

Ohh I am sorry. I currently have an 85 (or 3.0) at my high school, I got a 1150 on the SAT.

Oh I am sorry thanks for the good luck wish. If I decide not to go to law school. How do you think employers would look at a St. John's degree?

they both are a match for you, since the acceptance rate for both is pretty lenient. I don't know which law program is better though.
But it seems that Hofstra have a more dedicated law program...

Edit: I forgot to tell you that I am also considering SUNY Albany.

I would do some research on the two universities that i mentioned.
If I were you, I would go to St. John's, but then again I have no idea as to their law program.
- Just make sure you apply early to guarantee acceptance and get at least one decent recomendation.

Regarding a degree from St. John's, most people from the website ( the majority of which are obsessed with prestigious schools) are going to tell you that a degree from a more acclaimed university woul be better, of course.

But, right now that is all your status will allow. Anyways, wherever you go just go with a positive attitude and if you excell there ( high GPA, etc) you will surely be able to transfer later, after your undergrad...

You really don't have that many choices, go to st. john,s or the other one now and see what happens...

Thanks for your advice, it will definately help me with my decision.

st. johns has a great pharmacy program

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone think the pharmacy program is worth it if I have a 92 avg and about 2100 on my SATs?

you're gonna get a very nice scholarship from them but unless you're gonna be happy about being very close to home and the feel of a commuter campus i would advise against it....as a hs senior btw

I thought about going there with a few friends but decided not to..

what other schools are you considering?

OP,

I would look strongly at Hofstra

"Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone think the pharmacy program is worth it if I have a 92 avg and about 2100 on my SATs?"

I think its worth it but goin to a school like University of Texas at austin is even more worth cuz der pharmacy program is ojne of da best in da nation

freekobe07, do you feel that it is a great school overall?

m1a, you would choose Hofstra over St. John's? If so, why?

i think its an above average/prestigous school..but not as much as schools like nyu, columbia, fordham...
