I just got accepted too, I got an email saying that I would find out about scholarships on the 29th. I also applied to John Cabot in Rome, it looks really nice, kind of similar to SLU- Madrid. Are you applying to any schools in the US?

I applied to a bunch of US schools because money means I'll probably go to one of them (I've already been offered scholarships of at least full tuition to two). I feel like going to Europe is a dream thing, but something that won't probably happen, because of money. It makes me sad, but, well, at least I can study abroad or something, even though that's really not enough. Sigh.

Somebody told me that John Cabot was kind of a party school, and my grandma hates Rome (I've never been there, so this isn't a great reason lol), so I didn't apply there...

Does anyone know how Saint Louis is looked upon?

Just wanted to add that a "permanent student" will see his Spanish improve a great deal while he is living in Madrid and working on a degree at SLU, just by the way his daily life goes. A visiting student would have to make more of an effort to interact with others who are not visiting students. If you are at SLU Madrid for a year or less and spend almos all of your time with English speaking professors and visiting students from other U.S. colleges, it is not likely your Spanish will improve a lot.

hey i'm a senior in high school and i have two questions about slu madrid. first, is it too lat to apply now? i know the deadline isnt till april 30th but will they look down on me for applying so lat in the game? i was going to apply earlier but i changed my mind about going (but now i really want to go ahaha).

second, how hard is it to get in? i know slu in saint louis is a really good school but i was wondering if slu madrid campus was any easier to get into? i have about a 3.6 gpa, i have a full coarse load with a lot of APs, i studied abroad in spain last summer. i'm so nervous!

You can definitely still apply. Certainly, there are more spots the earlier you apply, but your stats are strong enough that I think you should be able to get in--the real problem will be paying for it! That's my problem, anyway, and why I don't think I'll be able to attend :-(

aww. well wait to see what financial aid you'll get. maybe you can go and just live off of spaghetti o's aha. is slu your first choice? if you don't mind me asking what sort of gpa did you have? you're so lucky you got in. . .

I don't know what my first choice is, but I'm probably going to Fordham University, because they gave me a big scholarship...Which I'm okay with, because it's a great school, and New York, while no Madrid, is still awesome. I have a 4.0 UW/4.88 W GPA.

Well that's stellar. Realistically speaking, i'll most likely go to Ithaca College in New York. And if that's too pricy (which it very likely will be) I might go to a state school. . . I'm just applying to Madrid on a whim. Spain is just like a heaven on earth for me.

I know, me, too, I love Madrid, it would be amazing...I'm probably going on a trip this summer where we'll stop in Madrid and I know I'll just be wishing the whole time that I could have stayed on gone to school there!

I have about the same GPA as yours and I got in. I don't think it is too tough. Good luck!

Thanks! Also, I was wondering how to approach the essay. It's supposed to be about life experiences which prepare you for the "multicultural enviorment". I went abroad last year to Spain so naturally I want to write about that. However, I'm unsure whether or not to write about multiple experiences. Anyways, I grew up in a pretty sheltered, waspy town. I don't know what else to write about. . .

I grew up overseas so it was pretty easy for me.
Maybe write about how you grew up in the sheltered town but then went abroad to Spain and realized how much you loved being abroad and what you gained from that experience. I hope you get in!

I got my acceptance monday! I didn't check my email until now. I can't believe they replied to fast... less than a week after my materials were sent out. Pretty sure i'm going = )

Congratulations!

I'm pretty sure I can't afford it :-(

But...I may still be going to Europe. To Germany, which is different, and I prefer Spain as a country, but this could still be way more amazing and way different from school in the US.

I was just wondering if a SLU Madrid degree is reputable in Spain?

Is anyone here going to SLU Madrid? I am!

If everything works out like I want it to, which I am confident it will, I am too!!! I literally can’t wait!!!

hi, I applied to SLU Madrid last week for the fall. I am hoping to get in. I have a 3.4 - 3.5 gpa as of the end of my junior year. Is it tough to get into? I am a senior in hs and currently taking 3 AP classes, my gpa may be a little higher now.

So, do you think I will get in? Is it too late? How is financial aid? scholarships? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the info. I just applied here last week and sure hoping that I get accepted.
