So I got the call the other day from my SLU admissions counselor inviting me to interview for the SLU presidential scholarship and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of questions they asked at the interview? Any info you have would be so great! THANK YOU!

My D is also attending Presidential Scholarship Competition weekend at SLU during the weekend of Feb 24 - 26, 2011. Would love to have information regarding:

1) The interviews that will take place - what questions will they be asking?
2) How many TOTAL students are invited to interview?
3) How many Presidential Scholarships will be given out?
4) When will competitors find out if they receive the awards?

THANK YOU!

i went last weekend and had such an amazing time. even though we were all competing for the same scholarship, everyone was super nice and helpful and the current scholars were full of helpful info.
to answer your questions…
(all of this info was given to me by my admissions counselor)
1100 applied, 500 got interviews, and between 20-30 scholarships are given out (it variesw each year…) and we will find out march 4.
as for the interview…they asked questions about my essay and leadership roles, why SLU, why my major, my hobbies, how i will be a leader at SLU, and a current event question. there are 2 25 min interviews with a panel of 3 people. it isnt a big deal at all…they are all really friendly and helpful. tell your daughter to relax and enjoy the weekend bc it is very fun and a really good experience. good luck!

anyone heard back yet? i interviewed from feb 17 to the 19!

my a.c. said we find out wednesday the 9th :)

I heard back from my admissions counselor today at around 2. He called me and told me that I was one of the chosen pres scholars!

Isn’t it almost time for the invititations to go out? Judging from last year’s posts, it looks like they went out in the Jan 6-7 time frame.

Got my interview offer today for the 9-10 weekend!

agnijay… how did you find out? Letter? Phone call? Email?

Phone… Emails are going out Saturday. My last name starts with a if that helps.

Got the phone call today. My D is going for an interview on the Feb 23-25th wkend. 23rd and 24th are optional - class shadowing and reception. Actual interviews on the 25th (Sat.). Same stats as last yr - 1100/500/25-35.

I also got my call today for the 23-25!

Is there a difference between check-ins D and C?

Have emails been sent? If we haven’t received an email or phone call, can we stop worrying about it and move on?

I personally got my e-mail today, but I’m sure that more will be going on.

I think the only difference is if you go to C, you can choose either the SLU campus tour or the St. Louis tour.

Agnijay, why are you sure more will be going on? Just a hunch or what? A girl that goes to my school got a call but I have not yet. I sort of assumed I would be going on, 36 act 4.0 uw 4.815 w captain of a varsity team 360 research project at a local university, but perhaps they didn’t like my essay? Either way, it’s worrying that I haven’t heard anything at all

Well, I’m just assuming based off of last years dates. Last year, they STARTED going out at this time, and if you look, it seems like most people who found out have names that start with early letters.

Well yes, most have started with early letters(girl at my school started with a B), but SLU says that your admission counselor contacts you. Your admissions counselor is dependent upon location and there are so many of them that I doubt that one of them could have more than 50 or so to contact. She was contacted around 5 on Thursday so I feel as if the AC should’ve gotten to the M’s. I’m thinking it may be the official ACT. I realized SLU didn’t have the official ACT in late December and sent it to them then. They had already accepted me and given me the VP Scholarship though(I assume they pulled it off of the transcript). Guess I’ll find out soon enough.

My admissions counselor called on Wednesday…I’m in the southwest and last name begins with a K. Invited to Feb 9-11 weekend. If you’re really worried you could maybe try contacting your counselor? Best of luck! :)
