Saint Martins VS Parsons: Fashion Design

Hi!
Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to study Fashion Design but I don’t Know which is the best place:

Saint Martins or Parsons?

Thanks in advance.

both are fantastic schools for fashion, and you should definitely apply to both.

Being an american, you have a higher chance of getting in at parsons, though if your artwork is strong you can get into either.

Just be aware that both schools have a foundation year where you study fine arts, and not fashion design. because of that, your application portfolio should not have any fashion work, just fine art work.

CSM will emphasize the conceptual and is fantastic if you want to learn to completely realize a vision, while Parsons is extremely conceptual as well, though they seem to be a bit more practical from what my friends there have told me. FIT is the most practical of them all, as they emphasize business.

It would really help if you showed some of your artwork, because that does make a huge difference. I believe most art schools are great schools, you just have to figure which one will best fit you and your creative process

Thanks!
The information was very useful.
I have another question:
What is your opinion about the summer programs of Parsons and CSM ?

I think the best place for me is Parsons.
Moreover, in New York there are more opportunities than London.

My friend Staci did the summer programs at both Parsons and Central, I will ask her a bit more to see what else she has to say

But I do know that she (and my friend Daniel who also did CSM summer) are both forsure going to CSM (assuming they are admitted). Parsons is a very traditional precollege program, and it will not give you an accurate reflection of what the actual college is like, whereas I am under the impression CSM precollege was more intensive and helpful to them. In the end though, again, it is whichever you think is a better fit because they are both FANTASTIC schools

I would highly recommend (if you havent already) looking up the final showcases from the CSM and Parsons show and see which aesthetic fits yours best. CSM’s show is on style.com, and im sure with a little hunting around you could find parsons’ as well.

But again, if you want to send me a private message I could try to get you in touch with that friend who did both programs
