So I am applying to Saint Mikes early action 1, love the school so much, best school ever. I am worried though, because I am not taking a language this year, after taking three years in high school and two in middle school, and I am also only taking astronomy which is a 1 semester course as my science class. I know saint mikes likes to see 4 years of everything because of the liberal arts curriculum, will not having a language, or a full year science class senior year at all make me have less of a chance at acceptance?

My gpa is 3.5 (bad freshman year)
SAT 1750
ACT 27

I am also taking 2 full year social studies courses (AP psychology and AP government, which includes comparative and us government), and 1 half year course. 1 full year math course, and two half year english courses.

I plan on studying psychology and/or global studies.

I also feel like I have a very strong essay and do a lot of volunteering in and outside of school.

What level was your last language class (ie., Spanish Honors III, AP French Language…)?
Foreign language is by level reached, like Math.
For science, you would need at least 3 years including Bio and either Chem or Physics (or both). Since you’re not interested in STEM fields, you’re okay as long as you have that.

Anyway, it looks good for you.

have you run the Net Price Calculator and shown its results to your parents? Is the college within budget? Do you have 2 safeties you like, will get into, and can afford?

My last language course was junior year, German 4 honors and I took earth science, bio and chem.
My parents are well aware of the costs and are ok with it and I also have 2 safety schools just in case.

German 4 HOnors = Level4 = you have the requirement completed.
3 years of science = same thing.
If so, then you’re all set.
Make sure you apply to your safeties ASAP (EA or Rolling Admission).
Come back to post your results (including admission AND financial aid offer). :)

Thank you so much!
