SAIS Interview

hey!

Another Bologna Centre admitted student! I had my interview in London on March 16th.

I really have no idea where to go now? I have an offer for an MPA in Public and Economic Policy from the LSE (potentially second year at SIPA) and for an MSc in Forced Migration at Oxford (a great programme that interests me a lot)…

Should I go to Oxford (if offered a scholarship) and then do SAIS?!

I got rejected from WWS and HKS… oh well…

^^
Dunno buddy. It’s a hard call. I guess you’d have to do yr research and decide. For me it’s BO or nothing, since I didn’t apply anywhere else. I was hoping to get some funding but all i got was some 15,000 euros loan offer from Unicredito Bank with very “generous” interest rate of nearly 6% for 15 years. At this point it’s very difficult to make a decision. It’s a lot of bucks and the question is, is the investment worthy. It’s a great school but if someone is thinking they are going to make big $$$ with a MA in IR, they need to think twice. This is not an MBA. USD 120,000 for 2 years is quite a bite to chew.
What is everyone’s thoughts on the subject?

Still waiting for the mail with financial aid…then I’ll see how to get additional financial sources…
I’ve heard so often that a MA in IR is not precisely a master to make money (unlike a MBA) yet that’s something I expected; but, is it really so tricky to get a job with enough income to give a partial loan back?
In the last employment report the median was around the USD 50.000, it’s not a pretty figure if you think in Euros. But I hope to get a salary above the median because of my work experience.
collegeconf27: Did you receive the letter in Europe? If mine was sent also on last Friday I should already have it in my hands (it’s just mail from Italy to Spain…)

I live in the US. Call admissions and ask them. They have all the info; that is if you do not want to wait.

Rubracoeli, Vidal, thx a lot! I followed yr advice and wrote admissions. Had my int-ew last Friday. It went very well and… I’m in!)) Just got an e-mail with admitted message. But I’m afraid if I’m actually in or not depends on finaid, as for some of u probably. So, waiting now…

Lyaysan, congratulations!! :)

I am still waiting for the letter (I guess it should arrive home, in Italy) and I received an e-mail from the Director of the Bologna Center about the Open House, but no news about financial aid. I will wait until Easter and then call the Admissions Office to verify the status of the thing, since I know that some US people already know about financial aid. Let’s cross our fingers.

This w-e I will also go through all the incoming info material…by the way, JH offers an MA/MBA with Bocconi, so the opportunity to make money in life is not completely lost… Anyway, I would love to learn more about the jobs people who graduate at SAIS get, especially in Europe. Do you have any story to share? And have you already decided your concentration(s)?

Congrats Lyaysan!

Still waiting for the letter with financial aid. I hope I get something!

Congrats to everyone who got in. The Bologna Center is an amazing experience, I’ve definitely enjoyed my year here so far, probably a little too much. ;)

Hi everyone!

I know this is a slightly dead thread, but I just contacted for the interview for SAIS Bologna 2014 admissions! Any tips? I’m nervous! I dont want to discuss stuff they can see in my resume, but I don’t know what to expect! Also, for those who are in Bologna right now I would love to hear about your experiences. Pro’s, Con’s whole enchilada. Also would love to hear about the most important aspect for me – employability!!!
