SAIS M.A. Improvement Ideas

Hello, I'm currently a junior studying history and Italian studies. I am doing some research over Christmas break to acquaint myself with graduate school prep and the SAIS program has really caught my eye. Specifically, I am interested in the M.A. in International Relations.

I've read the average GPA of incoming students is 3.5, which I surpass. I have not yet taken the GRE or GMAT. Nor have I taken any economics classes, but I plan to take a few (micro/macro econ) this summer. I studied abroad in Italy last year as a sophomore and would love to return via the Bologna program.

I am currently searching for a job or internship as well. I have read that many SAIS applicants gain professional experience for a few years following undergrad...is this highly recommended?

Besides adding working experience to my resume, do I have any glaring holes I should address while I still have time to do so? Thanks in advance for any responses!

Professional relevant work experience is extremely important for a school like SAIS. The most desirable applicants often have at least two years experience out of school.
