Sais?

Hi guys- Has anyone heard from SAIS yet? Or know when we might hear back? I talked to people from last year but they all had quite the mix of responses, though most had heard by now. Some heard via email, others postal.. The waiting is killing me!

I haven't heard anything, and no one has posted anything on The GradCafe. I'm assuming we'll hear next week, perhaps? It seems they notified via email in 2006, but mostly by post last year.

Good luck! I'm sure we'll all hear soon.

Nothing yet. My SO is on pins and needles waiting for JHU med, and I'm waiting on SAIS. I wasn't expecting to hear until April, though, based on my "application complete" e-mail: "This reading process is usually complete by mid March with admissions decisions being made shortly thereafter. Next, financial aid and fellowships are awarded to the admitted M.A. class. All admission decisions and any financial aid information will be posted in early April."

It would be great to hear earlier!

Yeah, I remember that email but I'm too impatient!!! Plus I've heard back from almost everywhere else I applied and am mainly waiting on SAIS, my top choice. I might make my roommate call their admissions office to poke around...

I was accepted last year to the SAIS Bologna program on March 9 via email. I remember being told the same stuff about 'you probably won't hear until April', so I'd take it with a grain of salt.

Mikko- Are you a student now at the Bologna program? That is the one I applied to and I would love to talk to someone who is or has been there.

Just got accepted to the Bologna program at SAIS! No information on money, I think it's to follow next week. I noticed one other person in on The GradCafe...so some people should hear soon.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Congrats, decided! I just heard, too. yay! Ha, so much for waiting until April. Thank goodness.

Congrats, AS08! Do you think you'll go? Did you get into Bologna, or DC?

Congratulations to all those who were accepted to SAIS! I just got word that I was accepted to the MA program in DC. I am very excited and looking forward to getting the official packet in the mail. It seems as though some of the links in the accpetance email don't work

I just heard tonight! I got into SAIS at Bologna, which was my top choice. Yay!! I guess they heard my discussion board pleas to let us know... Good luck everyone!

Congrats, people! I got my acceptance email for the DC program this morning. No word on funding yet.

WonderB - I turned the offer down last year. I had checked the 'either Bologna or DC' option without really thinking about it when I applied; when it came down to it, I didn't think spending a year in Bologna would be very helpful for my study focus (Russian/post-Soviet studies). I decided to work for a year and save up a little money, apply to a few more schools (GW, Columbia).

I'm in at DC; I didn't put Bologna as an option (but it sure sounds fun, and everyone I talked to loved the experience). I guess most people here are going to be deciding between the big IR schools, SAIS/SIPA/GTown/Fletcher etc, right? I'm deciding between this and less professionally-oriented MA programs in African Studies, which is a totally different world. If anyone is in a similar situation, I would love to talk. Congratulations to everybody!

WonderB, good timing with wondering about the decisions! A pleasant surprise.

Genericbill,

Add ".html" to the link for the acceptance packet in your URL bar and that should fix the problematic link in your acceptance email. They copy and pasted the filename from their web design software an not from the net.

I got into SAIS Bologna as well and it sounds fabulous. They don't offer as many elective courses at Bologna, but the way the degree is structured you must aim to get your core requirements out of way during your first year anyway. And there are worse things in life than living in Italy for a year. It sounds like an stimulating environment in which to study. But if I get into GTown or Fletcher it could be a tough decision.

Congrats to all of those who got accepted at SAIS.

I will hopefully be meeting you guys over the course of the next two years. :)

Does anyone know if it's possible to switch to the DC campus if we've been admitted to Bologna?

Thanks Herzlin, I will give it a try!

I should know how this process works better than I do. Here's a question: The SAIS admitted students date is April 16th, but my response is due to two other programs on April 15th. Is it unreasonable to ask for an extension for filing my decision at those other schools? This will all be moot if I get good funding at one school and not others, but it would be nice to meet potential classmates before putting down the deposit.
