Good morning! I am looking for feedback on experience at Salisbury School in CT. When we visited, we all left there feeling like it would be an amazing school for my son and we just found out he was accepted. He is a good student, but has to work REALLY hard to get his good grades, so we loved the fact that there is a diverse academic spectrum at the school with lots of academic support. He is also very athletic, with his main sport being baseball (his goal is to play in college). So the idea of playing a sport every season is very appealing to him. He is looking to repeat his sophomore year as he has a December birthday which makes him the youngest in his class every year.
I am curious as to the overall experience from real parents/students. Are the academics strong? Do they support the students academically and athletically like they indicated during our visit? What is the vibe among students? Are they really as tight knit of group as it appears?
Thanks in advance for any insight!
Hi, my son attends Salisbury and we love it. Send me a PM with any specific questions and I am happy to tell you what I can. It’s a very special place and sounds like a good fit for your son. Congratulations to him!
CC won’t let me PM because I don’t have enough posts? If you PM me, I think I can respond. Thank you!!!
Hi @kjacobo, I forgot about that. I’ll send you a PM a little later today.
Not sure where you live, but a December birthday would actually make your son at the older end for many places. My son has a summer birthday, which makes him the youngest in his class. Cut off here is Sept 1. It does make it weird with many sports like hockey doing birth year.
I live in CT where the cutoff is 12/31. So he just turned 15 in December and is a sophomore. He is always the youngest in his class. Even many of the freshman that played baseball with him
This fall were 3-6 months older than him.
HI @CTMom21 Could you PM me too, as I would have a question or two about Salisbury, school life, etc which I would really like to ask of someone who has a son there… Many thanks.
