Salutatorian Blues...Am I Crazy?

Semester grades are in, and that's the cutoff for val/sal at my school. I've lost by a hundredth of a point. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I know it's an honor to be second. My school is competitive and challenging, and I've worked hard, but it's a little disappointing to be SO CLOSE and not reach your goal.

Also, I lost STAR student by 10 points on the SAT to the same person. Haha fml

Some people will say you’re being crazy, but I think your reaction is quite normal. That’s too bad, man, but you are still in an excellent position. good luck

That’s a normal reaction for being the 1st loser.

nah, it’s always normal to be disappointed when you lose.

however in your case, you didn’t really ‘lose.’ you still won. high five for the hard work!

It’s all good nephew, aint nuffin wrong with bein the sal.

Alright honestly val/sal doesn’t matter after graduation. I don’t really remember who last years’ val/sal “winners” were (then again my school has like 10, so it’s hard to keep track), and I don’t care.

I mean I’m not saying it’s not okay to be upset; it makes sense if you had your heart set on val and everything. But keep it in perspective.

This will not still be bothering you a year from now. If it is, I’d say you are not having nearly enough fun in college.
