Same Act Score

Ok, I know this may be a bit of a rant but nobody understands and I'm hoping my fellow stressed out seniors or juniors out there can relate/help me.
I took the SATs a year ago and then the ACT in this past June. In June I got a 22 without studying but for 3 days right before the test. I just got my scores back this morning and I got the exact same composite score but WORSE in sections I focused on. I had studied my @ss off ALL summer and into this school year. When I mean studied I mean for 2-3 nights per week for 2 hours. I even stayed after school and was tutored in math. I thought for sure I got a 24 or even higher. I actually felt decent about the test, I felt I greatly improved actually. I'm truly at a loss. My dream school, University of Florida, is most certainly out of the question with such a low score. I'm so ashamed and heart broken.
Can someone offer advice? If not please comment with what you think went wrong? Was there a hard curve maybe? ANY advice or comment is welcomed. Thank you.

I’m not sure about the curve…but anyway, before giving any suggestions, I want to ask one question first:

Math tutoring aside, how (I don’t mean how LONG) did you study? Did you study a prep book (which one?), attend a prep course, or something else?

I used every single prep book I could get my hands on. Princeton, Mcgraw, Barrons, the Real ACT prep book. I bought flash cards and Dvds… I just don’t know what else I could have done.

Did you go through the answers and explanations after each practice particularly for those you have missed? Also, doing full timed practice is critical as timing is very critical in the real test.

I did :frowning: I thought I fully understood. My practice tests were showing 24s and 25. My English was actually pretty good at a 25. I’m just not sure what happened… Maybe the rushing and the anxiety puts me over the edge :(. I’m not sure. I guess it’s time to study for the SAT. Oh well…

I feel your pain :(. I got a 29 last time…and a 29 again this time. ONE MORE POINT. That was all I needed to qualify for the Honors College at one of my favorite schools. I was .25 away. Stupid ACT…

Lol. No offense but you have nothing to be crying about with a 29. I’m not even university material with a 22.

My daughter got a 28 in April with no studying, and we were pleased. She studied for the September test, concentrating on the Science and the writing. Still got a 28. But her Science score was wonderful - a 33. Too bad not many schools superscore the ACT. We’ll point out the 33 subscore to her schools, and just hope for the best. It’s a cruel, testing world. My only suggestion, BuddyBrooke, is perhaps to ask ACT to hand score? (Do they do that, like CollegeBoard?) Maybe there was a skipped line or something.
