Same SAT Composite Score both times...Should I send both?

Hi all! This is my first post on CC, so hopefully I’m doing this right.

I took the SAT twice. Both times I got a 1480 (was really hoping to break into the 1500s the second time, so close!). This is the breakdown for each sitting:

October 2016
Reading & Writing 720
Math 760

March 2017
Reading & Writing 710

Math 770

Yes, I know. It’s the tiniest possible difference, but what should I do? For schools that allow score-choice, should I send in both scores for a 1490 superscore??
On the other hand, if I send in both scores, will colleges think “Hmm. This girl didn’t improve at all the second time! Did she even study?” And if I do send in just one score, does it make a difference which one I send?
Any input would be appreciated!! Thanks

I should probably also mention that I did better on the essay in October (23/24) compared to March (21/24) so I’m leaning towards sending the Oct SAT if I choose only to send 1. But still not sure if I should just send both to all schools!

By default, both scores would be sent. For schools that superscore SAT, you will get a better composite by submitting both. Why would you even think of using score choice?

@billcsho Thanks! My parents raised the question of whether it would look bad if I took the SAT twice and got the same score. I originally never even considered that, so that kind of made me second think myself.

There is no problem in taking the test twice.

Hey we literally have the same exact situation and scores. Where are you applying? I would love to have 700+ on the evidence reading and writing section! :stuck_out_tongue:

You should definitely send them both because most colleges super score the SAT and 1490 is still better than 1480.
