Hi everyone, I’m applying to a university and did my common app on my background and how I moved everywhere. However, there’s another essay that asks what personal perspective I will bring to the college (elaborating how theyre influenced by unique life experiences and cultural traditions). Can I write an essay about me moving everywhere but focus more on my personal perspective? Or will I have to completely reimagine everything >.<.
Or I have another essay that I could use for the common app essay and use my current common app for this essay… ugh
Either choice is fine. Which one is better depends on 1. the strength of your second Common App essay and 2. whether or not there is another type of perspective you could write about (we don’t all have only one way of viewing the world).
@OnMyWay2013 Okay… The problem is I have no clue how “strong” the essay is since it was my Yale supplement [rejected]. Would you be willing to look at both essays to evaluate them? I know it’s the holidays so I understand if you can’t, thanks.
Either choice is not really fine. You have a limited amount of real estate in an application. You want to maximize that to give as rich and deep a picture of yourself as you can. You need to use different topics. It is a bummer when the supplement takes over your common app topic, but you really have to pull together another essay that has little or no overlap.
