<p>25 Scholarships of $7,500.- are awarded to student athletes based on grades, athletics, leadership, community service, and a not-too-long essay. This is a program for the excellent student who has devoted their time to high-level or multisport athletics. For this year's seniors, the online applications are due March 9, 2012, with results announced in May, and an awards weekend (all-expenses paid) at DisneyWorld in June 2012.</p>
<p>Anyone heard anything yet? According to their website, semi-finalists are supposed to be notified today (3/23/12).</p>

Although I’m pretty sure my chances are quite slim…</p>
<p>I didnt make it as a semifinalist… maybe that’s because rock climbing wasn’t one of their mainstream sports. totally thought I could be a finalist too… sent them an email asking if there was anything I could do. oh well.</p>
<p>Just logged onto the SAMMY website to see that my D did not advance as a Semi-Finalist.</p>

<p>I rock climb compeititvely. I’ve won multiple national and continental championships, hold several US records, and hope to compete on the Olympic Team in 2020. I also hold a second-degree black belt in mixed martial arts, have a 3.95 unweighted gpa, and am extremely active in my community. I sent them an email asking about my application, and they told me I wasn’t competitive enough to become a semifinalist in california. DANGIT. Congrats to all those who qualified though!</p>
