Rejected

Just got my letter today, and I live in NJ.
Waitlisted for AP/EA for Diversity, which is honestly a godsend considering my background. whoo! but I probably won’t get in at this point.

@TalkShowHost if you’re accepted into APEA via Diversity, does that mean that CMU pays for program tuition?

i think so, @Apdenoatis in the package i received the letter says “this opportunity provides you a fully subsidized William Elliot Scholarship to attend…” That should cover the whole cost i think.

Holy crudcakes! Thanks for the info lol.

no prob bob, I hope it works out!!!

Wait listed for SAMS but I don’t know if I’m going to accept the spot on the weight list because I was already accepted into MOSTEC

I live in NJ but I still didn’t get a letter. Why couldn’t they just email them?

@apdenoatis S will be giving up his APEA diversity spot so stay hopeful-maybe you will get his slot! He is going to send them a fax Monday morning letting them know he won’t attend.

Sigh, rejected. Attached was a form to switch my application over to the other pre-college programs- should I do it? The only other one I’m interested in is AP/EA but the cost is high and I’m sure it will be full-pay. I got rejected from every other camp so this is my only opportunity; otherwise I’ll probably just get a job for the summer and self-study programming and japanese.

@ProudMomx3 Thanks for letting me know! Gives me some hope XD I won’t hear back from CMU until after May 30th, if at all, however.

@anachronisms If your parents are willing and able to pay, and you really want to go that badly, then go ahead and switch to Pre-college. Imo, the opportunity to study computer science at Carnegie Mellon is an excellent one and depending on college admissions a chance you may not have again. The AP/EA admissions rate is 80% for Pre-College so you probably have a good chance.

Waitlisted for AP/EA for diversity. What’s the chance I’ll get in now? and if I do, would I have to pay, or does the scholarship cover the costs?

@Apdenoatis @thalamus I’m on the waitlist too, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Do you guys know how many people was placed on the list? I think the chance is pretty slim tho.

@thalamus your question was answered like 5 posts ago lol. Presumably if you’re accepted into APEA for diversity you get the full scholarship.

@hzhuang4 have no idea about how many people are on the waitlist, but I’ve seen like 5-6 total on CC so far, so there must be a good chunk. really not counting on getting removed.

@hzhuang4 the letter said a very few number of applicants were put on the wailtist, so hopefully our chances are high

@thalamus @Apdenoatis Lol lets keep each other update and stay hopeful, since that’s really the only thing we can do~

@hzhuang4 @thalamus yeahhhh lol have to wait until after May 30, though.

In the meantime, did you guys apply to other camps? Cramming for APs at all? :P

@Apdenoatis just going to questbridge’a conference that’s all. Don’t even mention about APs pleazzzz, my brain hurts

@hzhuang4 Ooo Questbridge, congrats!
lol aaayyyy peeeesss

@Apdenoatis I’ll be in northwestern for like 2 days max and that’s my only plan. So I really wanna go to this longer one lol. What about you, any plan for the summer?

@hzhuang4 if I don’t go to AP/EA, I’ll have a ton of stuff to do lol.
Volunteering at the library and teaching Science Olympiad to middle-schoolers, for instance. I also have a Thousand Sunny model to assemble/paint, very excited!
