I want to go into Computer Science or a CS related field (Information Technology, Information Systems, etc). I don't know whether to apply into the School of Engineering or the L&S. I know at Berkeley the acceptance rate for the School of Engineering is much much lower (9.7%) than the other colleges. Is it the same at UCLA? I want to maximize my chances of getting into the school. Does anyone know the stats on the acceptances of the colleges?

If you want to major in CS, you need to apply to the school of engineering. Trust me, it is EXTREMELY more difficult to transfer from the college of letters and sciences to the school of engineering after you are admitted. You don’t want to be stuck with a major you don’t like. However, transferring within the school of engineering is an easier process if you wanted to try for a major that is less impacted than CS. But, there is still a transferring process so pick a major that you would like in the worst case scenario you are not able to switch majors.

Also - if you decide that you don’t want to major in something engineering related, going from college of engineering to college of letters and sciences is a much easier transition.
