SAN DIEGO STATE 2021 RESULTS THREAD

@Gumbymom Thanks for the information re past waitlist stats. I’m curious to know where you got this information. Also, I saw you post a similar trend of waitlist acceptances in the Cal Poly thread. All the past years there were around 30 or so accepted out of 1000+ waitlisted but all of the sudden (2016) for some CSUs the same amount of people are being waitlisted as before but pretty much half are being admitted? I hope its true, but just seems odd, there would have to be some sort of major event to cause this dramatic shift in waitlist acceptances. Do you possibly know why this is the case?

Daughter Denied for Liberal Studies today. In state. 4.2 GPA.

@konchelle, the waitlist information is usually published on the common dataset for each school.

waitlisted Journalism, not my daughter’s first choice or major. Accepted to all other CSU’s including Cal Poly SLO,SJSU,Sonoma Pomona

@sdlife17: You will usually hear after May 1 since applicants that do not SIR (enroll) need to decide by that deadline. If applicants decline their acceptance before that date, then spots will open up and be filled by the waitlisted applicants.

If you are on the waitlist, just remember you need to SIR (Intent to Register) to another school by May 1. Do not wait for SDSU or any other school if you are on the waitlist. Once you are accepted off the waitlist, you can then accept that offer or stay enrolled in your original school. You will also lose your enrollment deposit and any housing deposits if you decide to accept another schools offer.

D denied today but accepted to Cal Poly SLO last week crazy… oh well Hello Cal Poly here we come! :-h

@konchelle: The #of applicants that are accepted off the waitlist is dependent upon the # of accepted applicants that enroll by May 1. Most schools accept 3 times the # of applicants vs. spots to ensure that all spots are filled.

Last year, there was a lot of upheaval with the UC system regarding budget. Also the UC’s planned on boasting their enrollment of in-state applicants, so perhaps many of the accepted applicants at the CSU’s also got into the UC’s and students opted to attend there instead once the budget issue was settled.

It is really hard to tell what will happen each year regarding the waitlist. I do know that the UC regents have voted to increase tuition for Fall 2017, so this may force some students to accept the CSU’s over the UC’s this year or consider going OOS?

Only time will tell.

@socalmom007 I am just curious which schools are much stronger? The UC’s haven’t sent out acceptances yet. Are you talking about privates? What is your D’s major?

She’s been accepted to UT Austin, Purdue, Cal Poly SLO, etc… Her major is mathematics/statistics.
