Omg, I’ve been lurking on CC for years and I finally get to post in one of these!!! So exciting, ahhhhh. Anyways, SDSU is freaking amazing!! It’s one of my top choices here in CA. Anyone know when decisions start rolling out?? I’ve heard around winter break!
I know people got notified last year around mid-December and got an email saying something like “Because of your excellent academic efforts you have been accepted early”. The other notifications came in January and then all the way until late March. A lot of the people who got denied found out in March. SDSU is also my top and I’m hoping to get in to their Business Real Estate major with a 3.78 UW and 4.14 W GPA.
No, SDSU accepts High Stat applicants starting in Mid-December. Most are offered chances to apply for the Honors college. Then waves start Mid to Late February through March. This has been the pattern for the last several years. Much will depend upon the number of applicants since the number continues to rise each year.
@Gumbymom do you think out of state applicants find out on a certain day if they have been accepted? I live oos in WA and a few people at my school who applied there found all found out on December 17th. Some didn’t have incredibly great stats either.
I cannot give you any definite days, but I did notice that many OOS applicants did hear in December, but many also heard Feb-March. SDSU does not release all results at once but in waves so there is no way to predict other than checking the decision threads from previous years to see if there is a pattern. All you can do is have patience.
Do they send acceptances based on the major you applied to? It seemed like nursing majors didn’t find out until late Feb last year… Do you think this will remain true this year?
Hi, I am extremely nervous about being accepted… what do you guys think my chances are?
GPA: 4.029
ACT: 26
Political Science Major
I have taken 4 college courses dually through Southeast Missouri State University, so obviously I am out of state.
The best way to determine your chances is to calculate your Eligibility index (EI);
(CSU GPA x 200) + (ACT comp x10) or (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR)
An EI of 1000+ for the ACT or 4100+ for the SAT gives you good odds for an acceptance. For Nursing majors, you need around a 4300/1100+ due to impactation.
Also the EI is not written in stone and is dependent upon the stats for this years applicant pool. The more competitive the major, the higher EI is needed.
If I am an OOS applicant do I have to use the CSU gpa? When I visited SDSU they told me to go with my regular GPA but I see everyone else using that one?
SDSU will recalculate your GPA based on the a-g course criteria from the CSU Mentor Website. I would still see what your CSU GPA is to compare with other posters. As an OOS applicant, you can only get extra Honors points for AP/IB and DE courses taken 10-11th grade. Here is the CSU/UC GPA calculator link if you want to try: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
@Gumbymom Being an OOS applicant whose school doesn’t weight GPAs, I accidentally uploaded my GPA as a 4.0. From the grades and classes I self-reported on the application, it is clear that my CSU GPA is much higher than a 4.0. To determine my EI, will they recalculate my GPA themselves based on my grades, or do you think they’d use the 4.0?
Also, I put my February SAT score on the application, but my October score ended up being higher. Since my application had already been submitted by the time I got my October score, I just sent the new score to SDSU through college board. Will they use the October score to calculate my EI?
Sorry for all the questions!!
Good luck to all of you.
Was going through the same nail biting as you last year and now I’m sitting in my dorm at SDSU about to finish my first semester as an Aztec. Received my acceptance February 26th this year, nice late 18th birthday present.
Good luck and relax, you’ve done all you can now so enjoy the winter break and the rest of senior year. If you have any questions or concerns I’d be happy to help answer what I can. Hope to see you all here next year.
