LOL about the double secret probation...my kids favorite movie!!!No doubt he would if he could (Pres Crow that is).By the way, some of the since condemned houses looked remarkably like the Animal House frat house.
The difference in the porn movie was that it was a REAL porn movie, not a self student made.Lights, cameras, director, real female porn stars.Big Big scandal at the time, the kid was thrown out of school..he was also a student government officer.

Jocko's a swank martini bar?? Have all of the great places in Madison fallen on such hard times? Jocko's got me through law school -- mainly as an oasis away from other law school students.

Sure has

The food menu doesn't inspire much confidence, but then again I don't suppose one goes there to eat. BTW, the wine menu isn't very fancy.

I was going to post a comment in this thread until I saw jmmom's comment about geezers, so I decided not to post here.....

....even if I DO fit the category. So this is not really a post... :), right?

In my daughter's outpatient program there was a young man that went off to college (U of A) with a promising future, he indulged in binge drinking one football weekend, mixed with Extacy (dangerous mix) and his parents were called three days later. His roomates said that he was acting "freaky". The indulgence caused a psychotic break and he is now "slow". The prognosis is that his brain may heal but it is six months later and it is healing very slowly. He is now in a half way house instead of college, but his parents just thank God he's alive. Another local boy (attending USC) with a promising future and a high profile father died after mixing alcohol and X. His name was Brent Shapiro. A wonderful young man with a promising future and a devestated family. This is a big problem on campuses and I think parents and prospective students should take this very seriously.

not that I am advocating drug use in college or anytime- but I think it is important that students take time to educate themselves about interactions in the body- even if they never use psychoactive substances- their knowledge may help a friend.
http://www.erowid.org/
I think that for the most part- students at my daughters school aren't afraid ( or shouldn't be) to find help if needed
the community service officers aren't police- they are there to help, and student encourage each other to intervene if needed.

so I was wondering- I thought Bloomington was the top party school ( Princeton) I don't even see it on Playboys list- apparently they have diff criteria?

Great link emerald! I think it's great if there is an atmosphere of "help" rather than "arrest". The fear of legal consequences probably stops a lot of kids from helping friends that they fear are overdosing.

My daughters college- has a three day party before graduation
She has worked as "border/karma patrol" to make sure that people are safe- drinking water- eating- not choking on their own vomit- and there are supervised places to sleep instead of going back to your dorm if needed.

I don't know what percentage of people are using substances- they have a beer garden- but admission is charged and id is checked carefully- they also have doctors on hand from Eugene who come to help every year- it isn't jsut a drunk fest though- they have some very creative activties- glow opera- giant windmills- picting- face painting - decorating buildings to look like dragons- meat fest- ( bar-be- que) human chess game- and nekkid slip and slide ( after the picting) among other things
This year my daughter is graduating- and she says I can come for Renn Fayre-
I can always pretend I am an alum and not just somebodys mother!

So I am a 2-3 minute car ride to dorm road at SDSU (about a mile). Things aren't as bad as people make it seem though. In terms of neighborhood, it's pretty calm. Most partying is done inside the dorms, so that's good. The college area is actually a nice neighborhood compared to ones around it. I do have to say that most people I see go there to party. There are lots and lots of beautiful people, but you have 7-year students that have no idea what they're majoring in or when they're going to get out. The biggest problem on campus is the crime that's been happening for the past two months or so.

i am looking forward to sdsu, moreso bc its a party school! yay! I better be invited to one of your keg parties- they look like fun.

im interested in the crime that is occuring on campus, i read one chick was raped after attending a frat party...

Is this common?

Depends on what you call rape. If a chick getting voluntarily drunk, then submitting to sex is your idea of rape. That happens every Thu, Fri, and Sat night at most frat houses around the nation. If your idea of rape is force sexual penetration by a female who clearly says "NO!" That rarely happens.

I see. And having sex with someone who isn't in a condition to make a conscious decision or to "clearly say NO!" is all their fault and thus isn't rape.

May there be such a thing as reincarnation and may you come back female in your next life.

May there be such a thing as reincarnation and may you come back female in your next life.

May rapists not have to wait so long

Sublime has a great ska tune entitled "DateRape" about a rapist who is then put in prison and finds out what rape is all about * from the other end* pun intended ;)

So, thedad, an inebriated male who has intercourse with an inebriated female is committing some sort of fault? Wow, what a delightful double standard.

Legally, an intoxicated female cannot give consent. Therefore, the inebriated males in your hypothetical example can be, and frequently are, charged with rape.

This is a very important piece of information that all college males should thoroughly understand.

Legal issues aside, a gentleman shouldn't "take advantage" of an intoxicated female.

How ridiculously sexist.

Just think about the biology a little bitty bit and you will understand why the law is like this.
