San Diego State University?

I have a 2.61 GPA at the moment which I plan on getting up to maybe a 2.7-2.75 and a 24 on the ACT. My extra curricular activities include JV soccer, JV tracl Academic Challenge team, Religious club at my school, an Officer of my chapter of a religious youth organization.

Average GPA for Class of 2014 was 3.82 and Average ACT was 25. Your GPA is very low for such a competitive school. You need to calculate your Eligibility index (CSU GPA x200) + (ACT composite x10). If your EI is around 700+ you have stand a decent chance for acceptance unless you plan to major in any STEM field. Then you want an EI of 950+. SDSU gets around 77,000 applications each year and is considered to be one of the most competitive Cal States (behind SLO).

SDSU: Reach

Also need to calculate your CSU GPA: <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

I am considering this school too. My counselor told me that it was a reach school for me and I have a 3.71 and 1140 SAT out of 1600. SDSU doesn’t look at extracurriculars so sadly those won’t play a part. With a GPA under 3.00 I don’t think there’s any chance.

SDSU will use the EI to rank each applicant for each major. They then start accepting from the highest EI down until all the spots are filled. If you take a look at last years 2014 acceptance threads, you can get an idea of the GPA and scores needed to get in. Also look at the common data set for SDSU. You will see they only accepted 2.9% of applicants in the 2.5-2.9 GPA range. Majority (38%) were above a 3.75. If you are set on going to SDSU, then you should consider a CC and transfer in 2 years.
