Is this a hard school to get into at all? I been reading online articles, and it said that the average gpa there is 3.18-3.4 and its significantly low in my opinion…
Well, the colleges release this data so you don’t have to guess about it. Just looking at collegedata.com or wikipeia shows avg gpa of 3.6 but I am not sure if this is the CSU weighted ‘a to g’ gpa or not. The test scores are not exceptional though. You should be aware that the admit rate is fairly low around 35% and all departments are impacted, I believe.
Average GPA last year for SDSU: 3.82
Average SAT score (Math+CR): 1159
Average ACT score: 25
SDSU has up to 77,000 applicants each year and the 2nd hardest Cal State to gain an acceptance (SLO is the hardest). You can see that the average GPA is higher the some of the UC’s such as UCR/UCM. All majors are impacted but some majors are easier to get into than others. The campus is known for their Business, Education and Science programs.

Common Data set GPA is unweighted at 3.6 for 2013-2014

SDSU uses the Eligiblity index for admissions. They rank applicants in each major and accept from the highest EI until all slots are filled.
Depending upon Major, you want to have around a 4000 EI for SAT or 950 EI for ACT.
Calculate as follows:
(CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math+CR) or (CSU GPA x200) + (ACT Composite)
My California eligibility index was 968 is that okay or horrible?
@Te4mVygrin What is your intended major?
EI 4170, SDSU is my first choice, intended major Kinesiology. Any chance for me?
@jss2015: If you want to be chanced, you should start your own thread.
@jss2015 I applied for the 2015-2016 School year as in incoming freshman with a GPA of 3.4, ACT 27 and an SAT score or 1820 and I was admitted already. Not sure how good a 4170 is on El but from scores that I have heard from in the past it sounds pretty good. Kinesiology is pretty impacted at SDSU and is also the major that I applied for and was admitted for.
Juno, are you instate? Makes a difference in your costs.
4170 EI will get you into SDSU - assuming you’ve calculated it correctly completed the required classes.
I got rejected to San Diego state. I have a high GPA (3.9 or 3.7) and low sat 1020/1600. I also applied for the nursing major so that was a major mistake I did. But anyways, I have friends who are somewhere around my stats and got accepted, but they didn’t for nursing. Plus we’re instate but not from that area
