Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone knows of/has had experience with colleges in and around San Francisco?

I have been around USF. It's a great friendly face with a nice enviroment in a nice part of town. I really love this school and I am applying here. Bad thing is: they don't let you take a car. Second, the academics are great. i don't understand why they are not in us news and world report. I am definitely applying here. They are so laid-back.

Obviously, UC Berkeley; private schools: USF and Santa Clara (both are Jesuit schools); Mills (women); State Universities: Cal State SF, Cal State East Bay, Sonoma State.

Mills is supposed to be great, if you're female.

Thanks for your replies:) I've heard UC Berkley only takes transfers for the fall of their junior year? This seems like a weird policy, but I'm transferring for the fall of my sophmore year, so I guess that's not an option?

Berkeley rules, Stanford sucks. That's what you should know =P

My son transferred to USF this year as a sophmore, and absolutely loves it. Is there anything particular you want to know about it?

Saint Mary's college of California is another one to consider especially for business and science.

On the note of USF, they're supposed to have one of the BEST nursing programs in the country. Not sure if that's something you're interested in, but the school definitely has some bragging rights there.

My son goes to USF and loves it. He will be a junior this year majoring in computer science, minoring in mathematics and Japanese. I - and he - like the mission of the school, the small classes, the scholarship they awarded him and the location. Nursing program, as changer pointed out, is outstanding.
