In for CS
33 ACT
4.6 Weighted GPA
From the Bay Area
It is very likely that the EI skyrocketed this year because of the issue with admitting too many students/housing overflow last year.
I thought I read some that SJSU was going to be a bit more selective with admissions this year. The EI for Forensic Biology (my major) went up over 200 points, and some of the others are absolutely crazy (like Comp Sci).
But, unfortunately, it makes a lot of sense if they’re trying to cut down on admissions. I’m terribly sorry for all of you who didn’t quite make the cut. I wish you success elsewhere!
thank you for the information sadly san jose state was my last hope
Are there still some people, who’s portal says decision pending?
mine still does @Prem
Accepted software engineering
1270 sat
3.95 gpa
what major did you apply as?
So I applied to CS first choice and econ for second. My EI is around a 4200. If I exceed the EI for my secondary major but not my first, am I at least guaranteed admission to econ?
accepted!

@nervousboy54 You still have some options with schools with rolling admissions and some with late dates, in addition to CC. If you want a 4 year college, some really good ones, including Clemson and ASU are still accepting apps. And likely are also still giving out merit. Plus University of Nevada Reno has a deadline of 4/7. It’s a beautiful school and I know several people there that love it.
@prem mine still does
I got an email saying I have a new message, probably it’s my decision, but when I tried to login it said the server is down. Is anyone else having this problem? Is it because too many people are trying to login?
I think the portal just stopped working because for me it was working earlier at 8:30
Is there really no hope for CS if my EI is 4550? I’m still at decision pending.
Decision: Accepted
Major: CS
GPA UW: 3.4
CSU GPA: 4.04
ACT: 35
@simrxnk how do you calculate eligibility index? also i have applied for computer engineering and i have not heard back yet
@gabbyjohn1030 its on the website but its engineering sat + csu gpa x 800 (your engineering sat is roughly sat math x 3 + sat reading x 2 / 2)
omg my El is 4400 but computer engineering is 4700 does that mean i am not getting in for sure??? I got into SDSU early for CE …
this is ridiculous…my El is high enough for every single major except computer science and computer engineering??? at least they should allow me into my alternate major which has El of 2950
can someone please help me…if i change my major to software engineering right now, would i get in? the El is 4200… is it worth it? or would i get rejected
