I got accepted into both of these schools and have my doubts about both. I'm leaning more towards SJSU because its overall a better school, or so ive heard. But the city of San Francisco would be a very cool experience. I'm going for a major in communications most likely so which one would be the better pick? Opinions academically how these schools rival? How about social life?

anybody have any opinions?

SJSU is very close to downtown SJ, while SFSU is not really that close to downtown, but certainly accessible to downtown via public transportation. I would choose to attend SJSU. I also agree it is the better school academically overall and the social life of downtown SJ and the surrounding areas is fairly vibrant.

San Jose State…

Its better academically. Its more diverse. And Its in the heart of silicon valley…

okay cool. thanks everyone!

i live in san jose, if you are looking for things to do, there really is nothing here. There is the HP Pavillion if you want to watch a sharks game, and Mall of America, but other than that, it is pretty much a dead city =/

I go to SF state and I grew up in the adjacent neighborhood, SF state is a commuter school that is in the boonies of the city, but that being said you can get downtown on the bus in about 30 minutes which really isnt that bad at all for a bus ride. Another nice thing about SF State is its right next to all public transportation you need, so if your at school and want to go downtown, the muni is directly across from the campus, or if your living downtown you can get to school pretty quickly. SJSU is closer to their downtown, but I guess its what your lookin for, growing up out here I never cared I was 30 mins from downtown but Im sure that has more to do with that Im born here and most of my friends are from the neighborhood or this side of town

Hey ChevyKid,

What is your impression of SFSU? We have heard not so great things about the neighborhood…is that true? Also, is it really just a commuter school, is a freshman lived on campus…is there college feel.

Any other input would be appreciated…

Thanks
