San Rafael Vs. Manzanita

Im planning on transferring to UCSB next year from a CC and I heard most transfers end up in either the San Raf. or Manzanita dorms. Just wondering which one is better and what where some pro's and con's to each..

Thanks a lot everyone!

Manzanita is definitely newer, the rooms are really nice, and overall they’re just better dorms. However because of the layout of the dorms, its a little more difficult to be social (not very difficult though). My friend lived there and said it was a great experience.

Do Manzanita. You won’t regret it.

Well Im leaning towards Manzanita at this point. The only thing that concerns me is that I’ve heard its very anti-social and I’ll be looking to make lots of friends haha

Thoughts?

Seems to be the only downside

it backs up into del playa. youll be fine

Are the beds in all dorms bunkable?

i think san raf is more sociable especially if you get a suite in the tower

I’m also considering tranferring to ucsb next year and I was wondering the same thing.

I have a friend who’s attending ucsb this fall as a transfer and I think she’s staying in San Rafael so I guess we’ll see how it goes for her.

Transfer students here usually live in San Raf, so I think you would find those dorms more suited to you. Manzanita village is filled with mostly freshman so you may not get along as well with them as you would with other transfers.
