Santa Clara Final transcript deadline warning

This week we ran into a surprise with the SCU final transcript deadline. Our high school in the past has not been able to make the SCU deadline. Our soon to be SCU freshman son found this out just before high school graduation. Yesterday I called SCU undergrad admissions to ask them about this and how they handle it. What I was told was that in the past the deadline wasn't known very well, but this year it is set and they are not going to be flexable about it.She said she thought it had to do with the number of students enrolling which was higher than expected for this and last year. They will pull and flag for re- review the files of those students whose final transcript is not received by the June 30th deadline. She said they would rereview those files and the late transcript could potentially cost the student their spot. I did get the name of the person I spoke to but I am not sure about posting it here. If someone would comment on posting this name I would appreciate it. I could pm her name if asked I suppose. I called our high school back and shared this information with the transcript person who then got sons transcript mailed out yesterday and pulled the names of the other students going and took care of theirs as well. I think we have 6 going from our high school here in the bay area. I am backing that up with emails to this person to document everything.

Sincerely,

silly policy. Our HS just finished finals on Friday. Grades are not due to be submitted by teachers until next Wedneday...... no way our school will even get them in the mail by then.

I just spoke to undergrad admissions at Santa Clara. I explained that our hs just had graduation and I didn't know if the grades were even posted to the transcript yet, never mind mailed. We are in the northeast where snow days happen. This made her chuckle. She said I should send her an email and she would put it in my daughter's file explaining the reason the transcript might be late. She also said that when reviewing the transcripts, the grades would be what would determine spots vs no spots, and that I should send her my daughter's anticipated final grades. So I did. I also have her name and the time I called.

Here is the link to the transcript announcement. It does say for D's and F's or not getting it in on time could result in recission of the admission.
