Santa Clara Or UC Irvine

Im really not sure right now. Money is not an issue.

I would definately go to Santa Clara for more of a college atmosphere. I went to UCI and it definately a commuters college. It will depend on your major.

If money is not an issue Santa Clara is a much nicer college experience.

Thanks For The Input. But isnt Uc Irvine a better school? I want major in something alonge the line of business. Plus id like to live in southern california after college....

Why on earth would anyone choose santa clara over uci. Santa clara is in a random neighborhood in san jose whereas uci is adjacent to newport, which is basically the heart of southern orange county. What exactly is santa clara known for? Not to bash santa clara or anything but obviously if you're an instate, uci should be a no brainer. Why pay all that extra $$

UC Irvine has a better reputation.

if you like the bay area, definitely go to scu...

Ya you guyz are right. I think that i was a little swayed because both of my parents went to santa clara.

if you are doing business, then santa clara is the MUCH better choice.

UCI doesn't have a business major, although they do have a Business School that grants MBAs. They also have minors in managment and accounting that are run through the business school

rpvsurfer, have you looked at SCU's Residential Learning Communities as a consideration? http://www.scu.edu/rlc/ I doubt that a larger school like UCI can offer this kind of "closeness," especially for freshmen.

Residential Learning Communities are an important part of life on campus. In your RLC you will make friends, take classes and form study groups, interact closely with RLC faculty, develop programs, and just hang out. ...
Residential Learning Communities facilitate the transition to University life for those new to our campus and nurture the interests of students already here. From your first day on campus, you will begin to develop relationships with other first-year students.

I live in Irvine, and my dad used to work for Flour (used to have major section near UCI), and from my experience, if you want to major in business and live in SoCal in the future, I'd choose UCI.

Two reasons - UCI has a better academic reputation - and what you look on paper can be a big deal in business. If people recognize the school you came from as competitive academically, you'll get a lot more credit and respect.
Plus, lots of companies in SoCal/the OC are usually run by (or have a lot of) UCI and USC graduates - hence, more connections at UCI. So if you want to work in SoCal business, you'll have a bunch of old classmates to call. SC may be better college atmosphere; but practically speaking, who you know and your rep. can be deciding factors in business.

Personally, I live in Irvine and hate the city; but you have to do what you have to do...(yeah, life sucks like that)

Damn i wish i got into USC :(

UCI is not a better school. Once, yes, but Santa Clara has come up a lot in the last few years. It's every bit as good and you won't have to wait for classes or take 5 years to graduate.

dude, Santa Clara is like known for business (isn't it?)

Its Mainly Known For Its Connections In The Silicon Valey. But i Dont Want To Live Up There...... and after reading alot on here i found that uci has tons of connections in irvine. And Who Wouldnt Want To Live In The OC ya i know its not like the show but i love the area. The OC is actually filmed in Redondo Beach ;) about and hour away from Orange County.

I'd recommend Santa Clara over UC Irvine for its college atmosphere; overall it's a great school.

not only will u have the oc connections, but i think u'll get more of a "university" experience at uci b/c it is a national unviersity. scu, as was earlier stated, located in some "random" nerighborhood outside of san jose (i live about 15 minutes away). and, on top of that, santa clara as a city isnt even that nice. it is a lower-middle to low class area with lots of cheap shops and dirty streets. all in all, there are not many things to do in santa clara. at least w/ uci, ur close to the beach and disneyland and other desirable locations...

Fanta87: This isn't entirely true. Santa Clara University is located near San Jose Airport and downtown San Jose (3rd largest city in CA). There are many things to do while at Santa Clara University, seeing that San Francisco is only 45 minutes away. While UC Irvine is a "national university," UC Irvine doesn't offer the "university" experience in the conventional sense, because most students commute to UC Irvine, unlike SCU.

is anybody here going to SCU?
