Yes, congrats to those who were accepted. My son was deferred/denied. 3.75, 33 ACT, extensive volunteer work
accepted UW, Boston College, LMU with significant scholarship, same with Gonzaga, and USD. Still waiting on a few others.

The process doesnā€™t always make sense, but he has great options.

My only wish is that Santa Clara didnā€™t say this in the rejection: " Our decision reflects the competitiveness of an application pool of over 16,000 candidates. Our primary concern continues to be ensuring the academic success of every student who enrolls at Santa Clara University, and we review each application with care and consideration."

This implies that those not accepted were not viewed as likely to be academically successful. Really? How aboutā€¦ We had more applicants that were qualified than we could accept. We wish you luckā€¦

Sorry Santa Clara, but I know the stats of the kids you have accepted ED, and many of the stats of kids RD. Itā€™s ok that you canā€™t accept everyone, but why add the little zinger to the letter and hit kids when they may already be down? Many of those not accepted could certainly have been very successful at Santa Clara.

Got waitlistedā€¦
Major: Computer Engineering
UW GPA: 3.8 W GPA 4.13
SAT: 1500(800M, 700RW), MATH II: 790, Physics: 690
I think I had decent ecā€™s as I played in the band, football, track, and fieldā€¦
Overall, this process has been very rough and it just goes to show the crazy competition nowadays. Oh well, hope everything will work out :confused:

@wahs0720 where did you find the financial aid info ?

@gzza73 it was part of my acceptance letter. The scholarship is called presidential scholar!

@wahs0720 congrats! I guess my S19 didnā€™t get it.

accepted!
college of engineering
major: computer science and engineering

@gzza73 For EA, my daughter received notification of merit after initial acceptance. It was not top award but still generous.

Son was not accepted. He was not that upset. He has several other options that are better fits and better financially for us too. We are on the east coast, so SCU would have presented challenges and the cost would have likely been high compared with other options. I agree with some other comments, the wording on the letter could have been better. There is NO doubt many of the students denied acceptance could have done VERY well at SCU. My sonā€™s stats are right in line with or better than many stating they were accepted. Best of luck to everyoneā€¦ have faith, all things happen for a reason.
