Santa Clara: Silicon Valley Job/Intern Opportunities? (Tech, CS)

@Gumbymom

Knowing that the “stats need to be higher” is vague, I’ll keep on looking because I do want to get a clearer specific view of where I stand and how much a safety it is or if its an upper/lower target, etc…

its definitely right that the general rule is that i have to have more competitive holistic applications and that CS is competitive so that makes it harder and that I need to be above 75 percentile for safety schools… but knowing this information isn’t helping me really figure out/center what my safeties and targets are and what the line between them is.

I’ve heard this info a lot now repeatedly on these forums, but its still pretty vague… I really will need to try to get specific stats to do my college list… it really helps…

if college doesnt have the stats im looking for is it worth emailing the college for more info if they don’t show it on their website/if I really really can’t find it?

Very few colleges are going to be completely transparent when it comes to their admission policies and specific stats. Yes, having higher stats in general can be vague but you use the common dataset (google common dataset + Name of college) and look at section C will give you plenty of information regarding application review, 25-75th percentiles for test scores, average GPA etc… Again, very few schools will breakout this information by major so you need to gauge your chances based on the information available, apply widely and have some safety schools in your home country. Remember there are no guarantees especially for International applicants.
