Santa Clara University EA class of 2022!

Who’s applied?? How’s everyone feeling?

I’m submitting my application tomorrow I think. I feel somewhat confident about being admitted but I’m really nervous to hear back about scholarships!! I’ve heard they can be stingy but I think I’ll need a decent amount of aid to attend.

Did you write 2 or 3 of the supplemental essays? The one about how we found out about SCU seems hard to write so I haven’t completed that yet…but maybe it’s good to complete all of them just in case!

I wrote something for all 3 though some were much better than others. I haven’t visited because I live in DC but I used the space to say what I like about the campus based on what I’ve seen on their website. I think it’s definitely better to have something than nothing!

And yeah I’m nervous about scholarship money too…where else are you applying?

I’m from the Midwest, but I’m applying to SCU, Loyola Marymount, University of San Francisco (top 3), University of Portland, George Washington University, Loyola Chicago, and University of Wisconsin-Madison. How about you?

Nice! I’m originally from New York and moved to DC five years ago…I applied ED to Fordham, EA to CU Boulder, Penn State, SCU, and Clark University. I also plan to apply regular to Boston University, Bucknell, and Virginia Tech

Can those of you who’ve applied see that your test scores and transcripts have been received on the portal? My D applied several days ago and still can’t see a checklist.

I didn’t see a checklist either. For a while it said “outstanding materials: high school transcript” but once they received my transcript it went away. I wish it was formatted more clearly to see what they HAVE received

Thanks, @nillawafer_ My d’s portal doesn’t show anything, so hopefully that means they’ve received everything.

I have to agree…My DS applied to a number of schools including SCU. Out of all, SCU has the most “primitive” portal display. All materials have been received for his EA application but to be honest, we’re going off of what we “understand” and not what is being reported in any dashboard. With that said, anyone hear any good news yet?

That’s awesome!! Okay question - does anyone know if SCU is known for handing out application news early? Like I applied EA, and they say they get back by mid-December…I’m just wondering if you’ve heard of people receiving news before that?

Replying so I can find this thread later haha… I applied 10/21, haven’t heard about a decision yet… I wonder in past years when EA apps started hearing back?

SCU sophomore here - didn’t apply EA, but I had several friends who did. I believe they found out sometime in December/early January.

So if you open the portal and you see a green check, that means they have everything, right? DD’s other schools spelled it out a bit more.

Is there a definitive date that we are getting notifications from SCU?

My S got an email from SCU that said decisions would be “released in the next few weeks”, so probably before Christmas.

I applied ED and I haven’t heard anything yet. My friends who applied to other schools EA are already hearing from them. Looking at the posts from the past years they should come out sometime next week

Does anyone know if the merit aid decision comes at the same time as the EA/ED admission decision?

Yes, I think it does. Has anyone heard back about EA yet? I’m so excited / nervous

I applied ED and feeling nervous. My other friends who have applied ED have both heard…I had a friend contact the office and they said decisions will be sent within the next two weeks. Most people find out from their EDs this week, particularly the 15th! I would too also like to know this week. Im just so on edge! If anyone has heard anything lmk!

SCU admission just posted on their Instagram stories that they are mailing letters as we speak. Decisions for early action should be released very soon.
