Santa Clara University engineering program

After visiting the campus, my son is really excited about the school and even wants to apply as Early Decision. We will apply as Early Action. My question is two-folds.

(1) How easily are SCU’s engineering graduates finding the jobs? Being in the Silicon Valley can be both blessing or cause of problem due to competition from nearby schools such as Stanford and Berkeley.

(2) I went through SCU’s Cost Estimator tool, and the EFC came out to be just about the full cost (tuition and room/board combined). What is the likelihood of getting any help at all from SCU? I know that this is really case by case. What I would like to know is how much weight the school place on the EFC based on CSS?

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

My daughter is starting SCU in the fall as a business student and my son is studying computer science at Berkeley. So I think I have some background that can help. The engineering jobs are plentiful in the Bay Area for SCU engineering grads due to the hot job market and alumni connections. With that said, SCU is expensive if your son doesn’t qualify for need based aid. However, they do offer merit aid if he has particularly high grades and test scores. I don’t think he can go wrong my applying early action since its non-binding and he can determine total aid before making a commitment. Good luck!
