I have 2 weeks left to make a final decision of where I’m going to college next year and I’ve narrowed my choices down to Santa Clara University, the University of Denver, and the Honors College at the University of Oregon. Oregon would be instate and DU and SCU would cost about the same amount.
I’m planning on studying business (either information systems or finance), but I’m not sure which school or location would provide me with more internships/job opportunities in the long run.
Any insight would be helpful!
Do you want to work in the Tech field? If so, Santa Clara is a great choice with its location and connections to local companies in Silicon Valley.
Good luck!
As a University of Denver graduate and current parent, I can say run away…There is NO way it’s worth the tuition, the new chancellor is ruining any chance of a fair, open, honest academic atmosphere. Chancellor Chopp has been through 3 schools in less than 6 years…that says a lot. The student conduct office is out of control. Fact: several lawsuits against DU are now pending for civil rights and due process violations. It is an absolute nightmare how biased, discriminatory, (race based) and anti-male this school has become. It makes me sad, as an alum and parent, to see what has happened to this once fine institution. My son also considered Santa Clara and how I wished he was in sunny California rather than listening to DU berate anyone who might want to be in a fraternity, (Chopp wants them all closed), or have an opinion different than the University. Lillian Rodriquez, who holds some kind of vice chancellor position is also very difficult to deal with, if you violate her honor code, she will suspend you, period, no due process, no rights. DU also keeps your educational conduct records longer than almost any other school in the U. S. …7 years. Run far and fast from University of Denver.
I am going to UofO tomorrow for their honors day event and have one at SCU, can give you feedback when I return, this is D’s second trip up there and my first. Are you going tomorrow? Being instate, I am guessing UofO will be less expensive, is $ a concern?
If $ is a concern (or you want be in a big school, great sports, etc.) then UofO. Otherwise, SCU over DU - great location and opportunities for internships.
