santa clara

i got the dean's scholarship- was hoping for more but i guess it's better than nothing. the business school has a pretty good rep- especially in the bay area. there's connections to internships etc. i think ill go to santa clara if i get scared and want to stay close to home. is santa clara anyone's first choice?

wat were your stats idontknow?

Santa Clara is now my first choice since I didn't get into Stanford

My son was accepted by Santa Clara and we both liked the school very much. He had a 1245 SAT 1 and an unweighted average GPA of 3.3 (weighted 3.9). He had good EC's. He applied for the early admission. I hope this helps those who are considering Santa Clara. Best wishes for all of you.

yeah, santa clara is my first choice, but only because i'm applying to transfer as a sophomore. i haven't actually applied yet-- i'm applying in early feb., have a meeting with an admissions counselor in a week or so. i have 3.8 GPA this semester and my SATs were 1280, although i don't think they'll really look at that since i'm already in college.

I finally got home from break and got to read my official acceptance letter. I also got a Dean's Scholarship. I want to go back out to California and visit the campus. Does anyone know the difference between the "Be Our Guest" days and the "Invitational for students admitted with distinction" days? I was admitted with distinction, so I could chose either one I think, but I don't know how they are different. By the way here are the link to those pages:

i emailed them and found out that the invitational visit for students admitted w/ distinction sounds a lot better. you get to have dinner w/ the president, faculty etc. I'm going to the visit in feb- i recommend that one over the one in january.

sounds good...I guess I'm going out in February. Maybe I'll see some of you guys there.

cool, i'm going to try to make the April 3 and 4 visit since its during my school's spring break. do you guys know when we'll get the information for how much scholarship money we'll receive? i have a friend who got accepted to santa clara last year and she received $92000 (over 4 years). That's pretty good.. about $23000 per year.

I think we find out sometime in January (thats what the letter said about the Dean's Scholarship at least)

Oh really? that's good to hear, Maine. I thought we were supposed to find out with our admissions letter.

yeah.. we should post what day we're visting- we'll probably see eachother at the dinner with faculty. Does anyone know if we have to send in a midyear report if we're already in?

I'm going to the february Invitaional. idontknow - I think we still have to send the midyear report in.

Just rsvp'd for the feb invitational- i guess ill see you there maine.

hey maine and idontknow, make sure you guys post your experience at santa clara when you get back from the february invitational. i would love to hear all that you have to say like what you liked/what you didn't like, etc.

rovee - most definitely. However, try to get down there to see the campus at some point, it's really beautiful.

i'll try to. i'm going to try to make it to the april invitational... we'll see. but thanks for agreeing to my request!

of course ill post my experience- hopefully it will be how much i loved it. that way making a decision on where to go will be a lot easier. ive already been to campus and on tours and stuff- so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. and if you have any questions you want me to ask the faculty or students while im at the overnight stay, just post and ill ask them for you.

I applied yesterday. :D

My D got in but did not recieve a scholarship. She has gotten good scholarships at other schools mostly because of her EC's, and community service, leadership. She was a little disappointed. Her stats are 1320 SAT, 3.77 GPA with AP's and honors. Does anyone know stats needed for scholarships and if they look beyond numbers. How is fin aid? We can not do full price with 2 in college so it may not work for her even though we have heard great things about the college.
