Does anyone have opinions of Santa Clara here? From what little I've heard, it's been from both sides.

Santa Clara has an excellent location and is one of the best schools on the West Coast (US News 2005, Master's Schools). If you have any questions in particular, PM me.

beautiful campus. i went to a SAT-prep program that they hosted a year and a half ago and the campus looked beautiful.

i know that their engineering program's pretty competitive. they host a engineering program every summer and two of my friends have attended. they said that they got information about the program and both of them have vested interest. one friend, who's a senior, decided not to go because she got accepted @ hopkins; the other friend, a junior, plans to apply there. she already has her application started and whatnot.

good for you if you got in! it's a very respectable establishment and if it weren't so expensive, i would have applied. :)

Santa Clara has been a very midiocre college favored by families that liked the religious aspect and the small private, safe campus. However, they are putting in a lot of money and effort into making it a solid second tier school and it seems they are doing a good job.

I took an SAT program at Santa Clara too and i LOVED the campus. It was like Hawaii. The church there is beautiful. A few years ago I took summer school there, and the building that I was in did not have air conditioning :( Although every day I saw college freshman from out of state on those everyday tours. Although Santa Clara is a bit pricey.

Oh and another thing...the campus is kinda small IMO compared to UC's, so you won't get that "college experience" or whatever in the dorms. But the location is nice. San Jose/ Santa Clara has really nice weather (I should know, I live here)

well not right now... it's raining haha

lol true..it is raining. And for the rest of the week it will. For some reason the weather is kinda terrible (I'm contradicting myself, aren't I) but NORMALLY the weather is really nice. SCU is so nice.

Is today the first day of Spring?

yeah... summer solstice was yesterday right? but if you're going by the chinese lunar calendar... it's been spring since february haha

lol i go by a regular calendar....so i guess it's already spring both ways. Hmm you're from sj too, are you in high school or college?

i live in sunnyvale... ima high school senior

i'm a high school senior too, in san jose. what school are you from?

fremont. do you have AIM ? PM me your sn

Santa Clara is a solid university. Not one of the top 15 universities in Calfornia, but a very decent school nonetheless.

Great college but lacking in fin aid dept. It is the only school where my D got no merit and also her lowest fin aid package. Her cost would be 10,000 more a year then any other college she applied to so we cannot even consider it. If money is not an issue, it is a great school with much to offer and a beautiful location.

It is a solid second-tier school....doesn't compare to the good universities, but is good if you want to stay local. It's quite well known in the region where I live (about 10 miles from it), but I don't think it's anything special.

Also, it does have a religious affiliation, so be careful that it's for you if you want to go there.

santa clara is not a mediocre school-- it's better than most other in the same area (san jose state, uc santa cruz, sf state).

Best Marching Band EVER!!!
