@ilovethe47: lol I already attend UF, actually I’m about to move up there in a few days before classes start on the 7th for this upcoming spring term. I know what im talking about, and more so, i try to keep out as much of the speculation and assumptions as possible. I go straight to the source for my info., both on campus and UF websites/calling specified faculty. Which i keep IMPLORING you may do the same. Fact is you provided zero rebuttal to what I said NOR do you give any reason for why a CC to uni route is nonsense. You’re receding from the conversation without explaining your reasoning; in other words, you were wrong. I appreciate your passion for UF and yes, the social experience of UF IS absolutely just full of fun and students will have stories to tell in the future, but I am talking about what really matters when it comes to college, and that’s the education/opportunities, not the social life; the social experiences at uf 10 years from now, will just be nice memories; the education/opportunities from uf 10 years from now, will be so much more of value and truly what is important.

@lovetolearn305: long reply incoming but I wanna give you my full 2 cents: it’s up to you how you want to do everything. BUT, I will say this; transfer admissions after 2 years at a UNIVERSITY does NOT guarantee, even if you hit the requirements at the specific college. Its actually a bit difficult since CC students are given top transfer priority. That’s just how it is at most universities. After 2 years at a CC however, you ARE guaranteed admission if you got the requirements for a specific college down. Ill say this much, your first 2 years are genED years, getting all the little simple classes done; what really matters is your last 2 years; those last two years are basically what earns you your degree. The first two years are just there to help prepare you for it.

If you want to do university to university route, go for it, but I advise CC to university route due to articulation agreements. Look at the uf website and call them up for advice/more info. And I’ll be honest, but don’t put “the college experience” as a priority. While its necessary to have a good social life, don’t prioritize it: your education and doing activities that help you network, speak, lead, work in teams, and etc. much better is what matters. In addition, opportunities from the university matters as well. I like to mention John Hopkins in this case, since I have a friend who goes there. The social scene and “college experience” scene, just happens to be boring and lacking school spirit when compared to like OSU, Penn State, or UF even. At John Hopkins, apparantly they even kick students out of their housing after 2 years, forcing them to live off campus (like UCF); and yet, John Hopkins is one of THE best medical schools in the nation; actually just keep it at one of THE best SCHOOLS in the WORLD. It’s education and opportunities are so rich and valuable; so the “college experience”/social scene at JHU isn’t anything special, it’s just “okay.” But who cares? With the education/opportunities being of such high value, the payoff is amazing.

So in short: prioritize your education and talk to your parents when planning this stuff out. Don’t rely on like, college confidential forums for example. These forums are for simple discussion, not to be sources of your decision making. I and a few others have doing damage control here, trying to clean up speculation and assumptions so often made and I keep stressing to others to NOT TAKE these forums so seriously (one of the admission officers I was hanging around with one day started laughing when I mentioned these forums). Go talk to your parents, talk to uf, and THINK about it. You’re about to be an adult, so be smart about it.

Also, call uf (if you do choose to do the CC to uni route), and ask them if your local CC is included in their articulation agreements for guaranteed transfer after two years. If so,myou won’t have to move up to Gainesville to go to Santa Fe, you can just attend your local one then move when you’re set to transfer to uf.
