Hello,

I am taking two UC-transferable courses at Santa Monica College. I tried to contact their office through phone and e-mail, but they did not seem to respond. For those of you who know their system, could you explain to me how I could reach them? I am currently not in LA so I am unable to go directly to their office.

Also, for summer fees, it stated that they waived the enrollment fee. I am not exactly sure why they did that. I did not pay for my courses yet.

Thank you.

What do you need to talk to them about? You can usually call the counseling office but they sometimes put you on hold for a while. Or you can email one of the scholars counselors (even if you’re not a scholars student - just don’t mention that you aren’t - they’ll help you).

They waive the fee before you’re supposed to pay so… well, you don’t have pay. Hah.

Thank you, edelynly.

Considering that I will be there for the summer, I would like to opt out on some fees that are optional. As for the fee waiver, does that mean that my financial aid situation would pay for that, meaning that I would not have to pay back?

This is my first time at Santa Monica College so I am not entirely sure.

No problem.

You’re talking about the fee waiver that just covers the classes, right? You don’t have to pay anything back.

As for those optional fees, I’m afraid if you can’t contact the admissions office you’ll have to go there in person. The thing is – you have to get those optional fees removed before your classes start (they won’t waive it after classes begin). Make sure you’re calling the right number (310-434-4380). Won’t you be there a few days before classes begin anyway?

Thanks again for your quick reply, edelynly! I will actually be there a few days before classes begin so I will be sure to talk to them then. As for the fee waiver, I contacted their Financial Aid department to make sure.

Hey External, I’m sorry my inbox was full the other day when you tried to PM me. Feel free to PM me now. Thanks man!
