Hi I will be attending SMC next year as a freshmen and transfer to a private university sophomore year. I want to know how difficult it is to receive a 4.0 there.
My stats in California high school: Sat 1350 (Math 780, English 570), GPA 3.6 (9th 3.0, 10th 3.4, 11th 4.0, 12th 4.0) Aps: Calculus AB, Statistics, Macroeconomics, Government and Politics, English Language, US History, English Literature.
I attempt to apply to Columbia (econ), USC Marshall (offered ttp), NYU Stern, Fordham Business, Stoynbrook business, and Boston University business
You can definitely get a 4.0 at Santa Monica College, but you must choose your professors wisely. Research your professors both on RateMyProfessor and google search ‘SMC Grade Distribution Chart’, and you will see how professors grade. This is absolutely critical, you will see there are some professors who just don’t give out many As. That said, I would encourage you to do two years at SMC — it is really amazing school and they offer a lot of resources to help their students. Have you looked into the Scholars Program? You should definitely apply to the Scholars program if you haven’t already — its one of the best kept secrets in California.
