Do you guys know if Winter 2012 session is getting canceled? IT SUCKS :(

I heard there’s a snowball’s chance in hell that there will be a Winter 2012. I’m bummed too. But we just have to play the waiting game.

From what I heard, they’re cancelling the normal winter session but there’s a proposal for a “premium” winter session where the students would be paying the same rate that international students are paying.

You’ll just have to wait, like for winter 2011 one of the prof.s I spoke to said they had originally plained to cancel that too, but at the last moment they reversed their decision and decided to do a limited summer session.

I agree it would suck, during the last 2 summers I was able to take 6 units , this is great for students who have to work alot . Plus I did well in each class I took .
Back in 09 you could enroll in 6 units( or was it 8, anyway 2 classes - though I wouldn’t take a 4 or 5 unit class during winter ) .
In 2010 the unit cap was 5, and you had to run to classes asking for add codes to get 2 classes .
Good luck , but watch the state budget, theirs a chance the state may restore education funding to previous levels .

FYI, the summer cap for 5 units has been lifted. You can now enroll in 8 units.

belkster: If residents have a BOG waiver, they should be OK right?

how hard will it be to get a calc 1 class as a new student?

Depends on your registration date. SMC is going to post up those dates on Monday 11/21 on Corsair Connect so be on the lookout for that. And just as an FYI since it was already brought up in a previous post in this thread, from what I understand from my stats professor, they were initially going to go with charging everyone the international students fee but now they’re pretty much reverting back to the original prices.
